Cutter Law P.C.

Ridesharing is coming to play a bigger and bigger part in the way people get around here in the United States. Among the implications the rise of ridesharing could have are safety implications. One of the things that could impact what ridesharing ultimately means for traffic safety is how ridesharing drivers act out on the roads.

This includes how long of shifts such drivers work. Recently, concerns have been raised by some regarding the length of shifts done by Uber drivers.

Uber reportedly does not have a cap for shift length for its drivers. Some people claim and some Uber drivers have made complaints that things such as incentives and low fares are pushing Uber drivers to work exceptionally long shifts.

Among the safety concerns that can arise in relation to long amounts of time spent on the roads are concerns about driver fatigue. An individual continuing to drive after fatigue sets in can be incredibly dangerous.

Uber claims that it takes various steps aimed at preventing drowsy driving among its drivers.

How common do you think drowsy driving is among rideshare drivers, such as Uber drivers? How big of an impact do you think the policies rideshare companies have regarding driver shift length have on drowsy driving likelihood among rideshare drivers.

One wonders what the future will hold regarding things like the policies of rideshare companies related to drowsy driving concerns and state and local regulations on this issue.

A drowsy driver’s actions can have major implications for others. When a person gets subjected to such implications as a result of the conduct of a rideshare driver or some other type of driver, skilled personal injury attorneys can advise them on what steps they can take to safeguard legal rights they may have related to compensation.
