Cutter Law P.C.

Preventable accidents can inflict life-changing injuries on people. And, sometimes, lives are lost as a result of such accidents.

Many things can impact a person's likelihood of being subjected to such incidents. One is how those around them act. There are a variety of situations in which a person can be seriously harmed by the negligence of another, such as careless conduct by a driver.

Many complex issues can play a role in how efforts to get fairly compensated for injuries one suffered due to another's negligence end up going. So, when a person is pursuing such efforts here in California, having the help of an attorney experienced in California personal injury law can be important.

Another thing that can impact a person's overall safety situation are the laws and rules in the state they are in. States differ quite a bit in what regulations, statutes and policies they have regarding safety issues.

How are the states doing when it comes to safety-related laws/rules? A recent National Safety Council report claims there is quite a bit of room for improvement.

The report is called "The State of Safety" report. The report gave each state a safety grade based on its laws/rules/policies that touch on preventable accidents. No state received an overall "A" grade in the report. And over half of the states (26) received an overall grade of "D" or worse.

Californians may get some encouragement from where California landed in the report. It was not among the states with bottom-level grades. In fact, it was one of the eight places (seven states and Washington D.C.) that got a "B" grade, the top overall grade actually given out in the report.

One wonders what efforts California will take to continue to improve the safety environment in the state and if the state will ever crack into the "A" level in future reports.
