Cutter Law P.C.

For many, summer presents chances to relax and take their mind off of things. However, there are some things it is important for people to keep in mind even during their summer fun. Safety is one of these things.

Summer months can present some special safety issues. One thing that underscores this is that summer sees a particularly high number of preventable deaths. In fact, according to the National Safety Council, the period going from July to August tends to see the most preventable deaths of any part of the year. NSC data indicates that, between 2011 and 2015, over 117,000 people lost their lives in preventable incidents that occurred in July or August.

What do you see as the biggest safety dangers that arise during the summer? What tips would you give for staying safe over the summer?

Many different preventable incidents could lead to deaths, including car accidents, swimming accidents, fires and falls. Preventable deaths can also happen in a wide range of places. Examples include homes, workplaces, businesses, recreational facilities, lakes, rivers, and out on the roads. Additionally, preventable deaths can vary greatly in their root causes.

Among other things, the circumstances surrounding a preventable death can impact whether a wrongful death claim can be pursued by the deceased's family. Such circumstances can have significant implications regarding what options a family of a victim of a preventable death has when it comes to claims or a lawsuit. Families of victims of preventable deaths can bring questions they have about pursuing wrongful death claims and other questions related to such claims to experienced personal injury lawyers.
